Dr. Mo (UK)

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Mauritius Seeger is a London based video artist, VJ (dr.mo) and programmer who has a strong interest in lens-based media: music videos, short films and photography. He mixes and projects live video as dr.mo. His video art incorporates imagery from around the world, using a combination of fast moving footage, photographic stills, video mosaics, collages and time lapse sequences. Much of his current work focuses on interactive aspect of video installations that draw on his experience in computer vision, combining his passion and experience in video with the power of software to create engaging audience responsive installations.

Project Description:

‘Fast Forward’ is a camera based interactive video installation that is an fun and interesting way to present time-lapse photography. The audience can interact with an HD video display by hand or body motion. A camera detects the observers movements and locally advances the video on a pixel by pixel basis. As a result, time moves in a non-linear fashion, creating beautiful time warping effects.

Fast Forward has previously been exhibited at tweak (www.tweak.ie ) in Ireland (September 2008) and at the Image Radio (www.imageradio.nl) festival in the Netherlands (November 2008).

“I remember those nights, planning technologies that didn’t exist yet, outsider science, futurist dreaming, half-magical. I was building another science, my science, wild science, robots and lasers and disembodied brains. A science that buzzed and glowed; it wanted to do things. It could get up and walk, fly, fight, sprout garish glowing creations in the remotest parts of the world, domes and towers and architectural fever dreams. And it was angry. It was mad science.”
– Austin Grossman, Soon I Will Be Invincible

Hybrid Visuals is the mad visual science of Joris de Jong. I live and work in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
